Learn the words, not just the letters
Check gently when the cat is settled. Stop if the cat becomes distressed and seek appropriate help rather than forcing the check.
Include the ears, neck, collar area, armpits, groin, paws, spaces between toes and the base of the tail where appropriate.
If a tick is attached, use an appropriate tick-removal tool with the correct technique and avoid squeezing or irritating the tick.
Seek veterinary advice if the cat seems unwell, safe handling or removal is difficult, or you have concerns. This puzzle does not replace veterinary care.
Remember: Most tick bites do not result in illness, but a small number of ticks may carry germs, including those associated with Lyme disease. Tick awareness means using calm, sensible habits.
