Sustainability and Responsible Production

Our approach

VUXLORE® believes responsible production begins with understanding where products are made, how materials are handled and where improvements can be made.

Manufacturing inevitably uses materials and energy. We therefore avoid vague claims such as “zero impact” or “completely sustainable.” Our approach is to work with established British production partners, reduce avoidable waste and make practical improvements as VUXLORE® grows.

British manufacturing

VUXLORE® tick-removal tools are manufactured in Britain at a specialist injection-moulding facility operating under an ISO 9001 quality-management system.

Producing in Britain gives us closer contact with the people making our products, greater visibility of production and a shorter supply chain than manufacturing the finished tools overseas.

The manufacturing facility’s published environmental initiatives include:

• Onsite renewable-energy generation

• Monitoring energy consumption to identify opportunities for improvement

• Recycling approximately 90% of its plastic production waste

• Reducing material sent to landfill

• Membership of Operation Clean Sweep®, an industry initiative intended to prevent plastic pellets, flakes and powder from entering the environment

These are commitments and measures operated by our production partner. They should not be interpreted as environmental certifications held directly by VUXLORE®.

Packaging

Our printed retail cartons are manufactured in Scotland by a specialist British packaging facility operating an ISO 14001 environmental-management system.

The facility states that its cartons are recyclable and manufactured from FSC® and PEFC-certified board. Its environmental programme includes responsibly sourcing board and consumables, reducing production offcuts, recycling materials wherever possible and reducing unnecessary plastic.

Packaging materials and local recycling services can vary. Customers should check the packaging and follow their local authority’s recycling instructions.

Responsible material use

Plastic is used in VUXLORE® tools because it can provide the precision, consistency and controlled grip required by the product design.

We recognise that plastic must be managed responsibly. Our priorities are therefore to:

• Avoid unnecessary material and packaging

• Work with manufacturers that monitor production waste

• Support the recovery and recycling of manufacturing waste

• Review materials and packaging as suitable alternatives become available

• Avoid making environmental claims that cannot be supported

• Provide clear disposal information whenever reliable local guidance is available

Responsible sourcing

Environmental responsibility and ethical sourcing are closely connected.

We expect suppliers involved in our products and packaging to comply with applicable employment, environmental and health-and-safety legislation. We do not tolerate forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking, child labour or abusive working practices.

Continuing improvement

Sustainability is an ongoing process rather than a finished claim.
