Learn the words, not just the letters
Use your fingers to part the fur gently so you can look and feel closer to the skin without causing distress.
Include the ears, neck, collar area, armpits, groin, paws, spaces between toes and the base of the tail.
If a tick is attached, use an appropriate tick-removal tool with the correct technique and avoid squeezing or irritating the tick.
Seek veterinary advice if the dog seems unwell, removal is difficult, or you have any concerns. This puzzle does not replace veterinary care.
Remember: Most tick bites do not result in illness, but a small number of ticks may carry germs, including those associated with Lyme disease. Tick awareness means using calm, sensible habits.
